Question Types
Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
  • MCQ’s carrying 1 or 2 marks each.
  • Each of these questions will contain four options/answers.
  • out of which ONLY ONE choice is correct.

Negative Marking:

  • For 1-mark MCQs, 1/3 mark is deducted for a wrong answer.
  • For 2 marks MCQs, 2/3 mark is deducted for a wrong answer
Multiple Select Questions (MSQs)
  • MSQs carrying 1 or 2 marks each.
  • Each of these questions will contain four options/answers
  • Out of which ONE or MORE than ONE choice(s) are correct

Negative Marking:

  • There is NO negative marking for a wrong answer in MSQ questions.
  • There is NO partial credit for choosing partially correct combinations of choices or any single wrong choice.
Numerical Answer Type (NAT)
  • NAT questions carrying 1 or 2 marks each.
  • No choices will be shown for these types of questions.
  • For these questions, the answer is a signed real number, It needs to be entered by the candidate using the virtual numeric keypad on the monitor (the keyboard of the computer will be disabled)
  • The answer can be an integer, up to one decimal, up to two decimal, or up to three decimal. Depending on what has been asked in the question, the student needs to enter the digits accordingly.

Negative Marking:

·        There is NO negative marking for a wrong answer in NAT questions.

·        There is NO partial credit in NAT questions.

Recall Questions:

 

 These are based on facts, principles, formulae or laws. The candidate is expected to be able to obtain the answer either from his memory of the subject or at most from a one-line computation.
Comprehension Questions:

 

 These questions test the candidates understanding of the basics of the field, by requiring him to draw simple conclusions from fundamental ideas.
Application Questions:

 

 In these questions, the candidate is expected to apply his knowledge either through computation or by logical reasoning.
Analysis and Synthesis Questions:

 

 These can be linked answer questions, where the answer to the first question of the pair is required in order to answer its successor. Or these can be common data questions, in which two questions share the same data but can be solved independently of each other.
